Therapeutic riding is available to children and adults with disabilities. It can be beneficial for conditions such as Scoliosis, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, ADD, ADHD, Autism, mental disabilities, Down Syndrome and more
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy also available.
During a session students will have 30 minuets to ride a horse and learn. Lessons are all one-on-one to allow focus on each individual's needs. Lessons structure will vary for each student based on their abilities. Volunteers or parents/caretakers may walk beside the student for support.
Horses bring so much to the table as therapy animals. Horseback riding increases body awareness while building strength, balance and flexibility. It also simulates the movement of walking which, along with the horse's higher body temperature, is beneficial for both spastic and lax muscles. Being able to work with a horse gives students a great sense of pride and confidence which they do not often get in other areas of life.
